How Shopmonkey built a geo aware automotive care platform with CockroachDB | RoachFest 2023

Description
When Shopmonkey rebuilt their auto shop management software from the ground up, providing fast and highly available access to their software from thousands of physical shop locations throughout North America was their number one priority. Distributed SQL database CockroachDB’s multi-region capabilities, which provide fast access from geo-distributed locations, was at the foundation of this initiative. Migrating data from MongoDB to CockroachDB cluster was only one part of this journey. They also had to rearchitect our monolithic application to take advantage of these new capabilities. This talk by Shopmonkey's CTO Jeff Haynie discusses the compelling reasons why they moved their core business to CockroachDB and what architectural innovations were implemented to take advantage of CockroachDB’s unique multi-region capabilities.
