Rob Reid introduces the "Estate Economics" demo, which highlights how Cockroach Continuum uses cluster virtualization and Cockroach Plenum disaggregated storage to cut database costs. By consolidating physical clusters into virtual ones on a private host, organizations can increase CPU utilization, control noisy neighbors, and reduce monthly infrastructure spend by approximately 48%. Additionally, Plenum replaces over-provisioned attached disk storage with usage-based billing, S3 cold-data tiering, and rapid node/storage operations that transfer small metadata instead of terabytes of disk data.
